Cllr. Vanessa Newcombe

A recent meeting of Devon County Council's Development Management Committee (formarly known as the Planning Committee) has rejected the application for a park and ride site at the A30/377 junction on the Alphington interchange.

The County Councillor for Alphington, Vanessa Newcombe - supported by her Lib Dem City Council Colleagues Paul Smith and Peter Wadham - spoke up against the application. The committee supported Vanessa's plea by 9 votes to 4 votes.

After the meeting Vanessa said: " I am delighted at this decision and I want to thank the residents who turned out to express their support and indeed for all their efforts in helping to oppose this application. She added: "I support park and ride schemes in principal but we have to ensure appropriate sites are found".
