Jonnie spent three years in Exeter as a student and was elected President of the Students’ Guild. Afterwards, he studied public policy at the University of Oxford before joining the Army.
He returned to Exeter to settle with his family last August, drawn by family roots in the city and a promise of a better life for his children. He now works at a UK start-up, taking on US big tech giants and providing an ethical European alternative.
He is driven to fight for communities at risk of being left behind and will do so as our prospective parliamentary candidate.
As your Lib Dem parliamentary candidate for Exeter, Jonnie will take on Labour at the next election and fight for a fair deal for the city.
Listening
Lib Dems are grassroots and community-driven. We want you to have a voice. As a local, I better understand and care about the issues we face. Let’s fix politics with fairness, transparency, and accountability to restore trust.
Join my campaign for:
-electoral reform to make votes matter, elections more representative, and politicians more accountable.
-scrapping the Conservatives’ draconian anti-protest laws, restoring pre-existing protections for peaceful assembly
-capping political donations at £10k a year to take the big money out of politics.
Caring
Just about every sector is suffering, with public services decimated by the Conservatives. Lib Dems have a bold, liberal vision for real change. We will enable everyone to thrive through a strong social safety net.
Join my campaign for:
-action on the cost of living. Fairer taxes and investment in infrastructure, innovation, and skills. Rebuilding trust, trade,
and co-operation with the EU.
-investment, reform, and public control of our NHS. Free personal care to fix the adult social care crisis. Mental health MOTs.
-150,000 social homes a year, with a community-led approach that ensures eco-, affordable homes with supporting infrastructure.
Environment
Learning through my Open University Master's, I understand how critical pollution action is now. Most people want to take environmental action. Let’s ensure the environmental choice is cheapest, easiest, and most reliable.
Join my campaign for:
-shifting investment from oil and gas to renewable energy and insulation, with a proper windfall tax and energy market reform to lower bills.
-cleaning up the South West’s waterways through tough root-and-branch reform of water companies.
-public transport: allowing local authorities take control of their networks. Rapidly ramp up rail electrification, freeze fares, and re-open more lines.
