Rubbish Labour Exeter Recycling Rates Get Even Worse

The top 6 councils for household recycling are all Lib Dem-led. Graph showing Exeter City Council recycling rates under Labour declining over 10%

Exeter has the worst recycling rate in the South West at just 25.5%. Beaten by over 95% of all English councils. This is thanks to Labour Exeter as, since they took control of the City Council just over 10 years ago, recycling rates have slumped by over 10%.

In contrast, East Devon’s recycling rate, the best in the South West, is well over twice as high as Exeter’s at 61%! Lib Dem-led councils make up 4 of top 5 councils for recycling. Household food waste and glass recycling is an expected norm in other areas.

What we've got from Labour is dither, delay, and decline. Between their snails-paced food waste rollout promised 7 years ago, few often overflowing public recycling bins, and not even regarding household glass recycling a priority because the current system is "working well".

A Devon Live Article states:

“Although a pilot food waste collection scheme is gradually being rolled out, the vast majority of residents in the city still have to put unwanted and leftover food in with their general black bag waste.

Furthermore, dry recycling is only collected fortnightly despite most of Devon offering weekly collections, while glass has to be taken to bottle banks.”

This May 4th, vote for a party that actually cares about recycling and our environment. Vote Lib Dem.
