Stop Labour's hike in bus fares

Lib Dems have been leading calls to cancel Labour's 50% hike in bus fares. The proposed single-fare cap rise from £2 to £3 for next year will see the cost of a return journey within Exeter increase to as much as £6.

Buses connect our communities. The 50% hike will make it harder to get around, isolate more people, and hit poorer people harder. Hiking bus fares whilst keeping fuel duty frozen also incentivises car-use, so worsens traffic, emissions, and Exeter's bus-reliability woes.

While the new government faces tough decisions, it's unfair to place the burden of fixing the Conservatives’ mistakes on bus users and local economies.
