Weeds - chemicals or not?

Following an article in the local St Thomas 'Focus' newsletter about the proliferation of weeds in the city, 5 residents have responded mentioning weeds, some opposing the use of chemicals.
Council officers have suggested using the probation service's Community Payback scheme to remove weeds manually. In addition, the Council can co-ordinate community groups and businesses clearing weeds in their area.
