Caption in front of a polling station sign: Tell Labour Democracy Delayed is Democracy Denied.

Don't let Labour take away your right to vote.

In July 2025, we asked the Labour leader of Exeter City Council if they planned to cancel the 2026 Exeter City Council elections. They said they wouldn't.

Now that the government minister has invited councils with upcoming local government reform to cancel their elections this year, Labour are jumping at the chance. This is a desperate attempt to hide from the public so that they can cling onto power.

The elections are already scheduled and budgeted for. Devon County Council and Teignbridge District Council have now offered officer capacity if that's an issue. There's no excuse to cancel democracy this May.

The reason is Labour are running scared of the public, having been wiped out on Devon County Council last year.

Don't let them get away with it. Sign the petition below to have your say in 2026.

We will have our say!

Exeter Labour have requested the 2026 city council elections are cancelled. Every other party and the Electoral Commission have opposed this move. The elections were already scheduled and budgeted for. Labour are simply running scared of the electorate, having won zero seats last year.
